I like the last guy bought this LG at Fry's. In the store it looked like the most bang for the buck, when I got home setup was simple wall mounting was a breeze since its so slim and light the picture looks great in blue ray and cable HD however when I went to play my PS3 there was one issue that concerned me. Got the LG55LE8500 TV about 3 weeks ago. So far I am very happy with the TV. anything HD looks great and blu ray is just amazing. black is black on this tv and colors are quite accurate. as great as this tv is, it does have its cons. analog cable tv does not look very good at all on this set. the screen is a borderless glass screen which can be quite reflective during dark scenes especially if you have a very well lit up room. also you will see some horizontal banding(lines) across the screen on bright blue background scenes at times. some people are going to be annoyed by this, others wont care or even notice it. ... I've had the set for 3 months now. I had some early concerns on the whole Edge-Lighting thing but they turned out to be frivolous. The picture has been outstanding. Played Dark Knight and the set handled the contrasts and deep blacks superbly. The thin design is a work of art. My set sits on a console (not mounted) and sets the room off nicely; no visible wires and elegant design. The streaming functions are a nice feature; good integration with Amazon and Netflix. This is a very good television with many options for expandability. The four HDMI ports are extremely useful and made hooking up my component add ons a breeze. I attached a DISH DVR, a DVD/VCR combo, a DVD player, a Blu-Ray player, and an A/V receiver -- and it was an absolute delight to find all of them worked perfectly with the Sony. Bottomline regarding the Samsung 1080p 52" is that I am quite pleased. The only LCD I saw that may be better is the Sony but it is my personal feeling that you are just paying for the name. I speny just under 8,000 USD for my KDF70XBR950 in August 05 and it recently started showing a blue squiggely line in the center - bottom of the tv. I had a repair tech come out and he told it had a bad optical assy and that I should contact Sony as there was a known issue with this part. I contacted Sony and they claim that while there is a known issue that "my particular issue" wasn't the specific issue covered by the extended warranty. Bottom line is they want $1,400 to repair it. I upgraded my 120hz Vizio to this model for my family room and can't believe the clearity! The colors are crisp, the picture is 2nd to none. You can actually see the laces on a football while in the air on a spiral. For the difference in price from the 120 to the 240hz spend it! I did and have regrets. This TV needs more reviews! I would give the tv 4.5 stars, not 5. I got it a couple weeks ago now. Overall it is an awesome TV, beautifully designed. Picture quality in HD and Blu-ray is amazing. SD is perfectly acceptable. The streaming movie internet apps are cool. Inputting text is a bit clunky however. Can't seem to get the facebook to work. Speakers are kinda sucky but you have to expect that on such a thin TV--got to get a home theater set up. There is a bit of light leak at the 4 corners of the TV, but again I think you kind of have to expect this on such a large LED edge lit tv. It ...
